E-mail this to a friend Printer-Friendly Version
Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program™ is a national program for teens whose effectiveness has been proven in 30 years of operation. Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge is now offering this program to the Greater Baton Rouge community to support and empower our youth!

Based upon the principles of youth development, and the socio-emotional well being and mental health of teens, Wyman’s TOP is an approach that provides teens with the necessary supports and opportunities to prepare for successful adulthood and avoid problem behavior. Wyman’s TOP has proven effective in increasing academic success and preventing teen pregnancy and other negative behaviors among program participants.

GOALS
Healthy Behaviors - Positive, constructive actions that allow young people to be successful now and later in life.

Life Skills
 - Competencies necessary to grow into healthy, self-sustaining adults.

Sense of Purpose
- knowledge of their own worth as they contribute to their communities through meaningful service.

REAL TEENS: The choices teens make between the ages of 12-18 have an enormous impact on the rest of their lives.

Teens form their own clubs with facilitators as guides. Wyman's TOP curriculum is packed in four age/
stage appropriate levels, and includes:
• Values Clarification                     • Relationships         • Communication/Assertiveness
• Influence                                     • Goal-Setting           • Decision-Making
• Human Development and Sexuality                             • Community Service Learning

Clubs consist of the following age groups: 12-13, 14, 15-16, 17– 18 ( 18 must still be in high school).

REAL LIFE: Family Road Wyman TOP program inspires and enables teens to develop the confidence and skills they need to achieve a lifetime of success. Community Service and Service Learning are apart of youth development. Teens make the decisions on what their role is in their community and the how valuable they are in making a difference!

REAL RESULTS: Interactive group; youth leadership, developing and evaluating values and goals; community service learning.
